About Me
Makafui Zimrani is a communications strategist, filmmaker, journalist, and blogger. He worked with Television Africa, Ghana and rose through the ranks to become the Assistant Productions Coordinator and Supervising Editor. He later moved to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation(GBC). At GBC Makafui was part of a team of journalists and TV production professionals trained to start Ghana's first all-news TV Channel, GBC24. He was the lead producer /director on GBC24's maiden broadcast.
Makafui has produced and directed several live and prerecorded TV programmes through which he has contributed significantly to shaping public opinion. He later became an on-screen personality hosting the daily Current Affairs programme, “I-Blogger” on GBC24. During the 3 years that he hosted the programme, he cemented his role in using the media as a tool for national development by treating subjects that contributed to enhancing the socio-economic and political discourse in Ghana. He also hosted a radio activism show, 'Citizen's Court' on Uniiq 95.7FM in Ghana. The late former president of Ghana, J.J. Rawlings described him as “a breath of fresh air.”
His role as an MP's Research Assistant with the Parliamentary Service of Ghana attached to the office of the Member of Parliament of Klottey Korle Constituency (Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings) from 2017 to 2021 has afforded him the opportunity to contribute to public policy formulation.
In July 2017 Makafui was one of 20 Ghanaian emerging leaders and influencers awarded the British government's prestigious Chevening Awards to pursue a master's degree in the UK. This culminated in a Master of Arts (MA) in Media Practice for Development and Social Change with Distinction from the University of Sussex.
